Structural Engineering of World's Tallest Building Burj Khalifa (Dubai)
In Structural Engineering of World's Tallest Building Burj Khalifa (Dubai), you'll learn ...
- Structural description of Burj Khalifa
- Summary of gravity, wind and earthquake analysis of super-tall buildings
- Construction sequence analysis and effect of long-term concrete creep
Overview
Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the tallest building in the world. At 2717 feet, this skyscraper exceeds the second tallest building, Taipei Financial Center (Taipei 101) in Taiwan, by a little over one-thousand feet. This course provides a description of the structure and then discusses structural analysis, design and construction. Discussions include gravity, wind and earthquake analysis, concrete creep-shrinkage aspects and construction sequence analysis.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Structural description of Burj Khalifa
- Summary of gravity, wind and earthquake analysis of super-tall buildings
- Construction sequence analysis and effect of long-term concrete creep
