This four-hour course is the second in a series of three courses about the nuclear power industry. The series covers the nuclear power industry including the basic physics of nuclear power, fuel sources, the types of nuclear power plants in use today, and the future of nuclear power.
This course, Nuclear Power: Volume II - Nuclear Power Plants, reviews the classifications of nuclear power plants and the basic components of a nuclear power plant. The course covers the design and operation of the current generation of nuclear power plants in operation today.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

- Identify the types of coolants used in nuclear reactors.

- Compare the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of nuclear reactors.

- Describe how an RBMK reactor operates.
- Explain how a GCR operates.
- Describe how an LMFBR operates.
