This 2-hour course reviews The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007. This law is intended to complement and expand on the Energy Policy Act, which was passed in 2005. The course provides a brief overview of all 16 sections of the Energy Independence and Security Act. The Act includes new CAFE standards, renewable fuel standards, improved standards for appliances and lighting, and new expectations for the electric utility industry to respond to the need for energy efficiency.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the CAFE standards for vehicle efficiency established by the Energy Independence Act.
- Describe the structure and components of the law.
- Identify the changes to lighting systems related to energy efficiency.
- Summarize the changes expected of electric utilities to meet the energy needs of the United States.
