Air and Gas Compressors
In Air and Gas Compressors , you'll learn ...
- To recognize the various types of compressors used in industry and construction
- To understand the basic characteristics of compressor types
- To be familiar with the definitions and terminology
- To understand the practical reasons for and the theory behind intercooling and aftercooling
Overview
The two-hour online course describes the applications, characteristics, and operation of various types of compressors. Reciprocating, rotary, centrifugal, and axial flow compressors are covered. The presentation is based on air compressors, but the principles apply to all gas and vapor compressors, such as those used on construction sites, refineries, process industry, refrigeration, and air conditioning.
Basic thermodynamic compression principles are described, but application rather than design theory is the thrust of this course. Definitions and terminology are supplemented with the extensive use of figures and diagrams.
