Gas Turbine Performance Enhancements
In Gas Turbine Performance Enhancements , you'll learn ...
- Be aware that there are several ways to increase power output and increase efficiency of gas turbines
- Be conversant in what some of these enhancements are
- Recognize advantages and disadvantages of certain enhancements
- Have an appreciation of the factors that go into the economic optimization of a combined cycle power plant design on the bases of the intended seasonal and life cycle load profiles, fuel costs, maintenance down time, climatic conditions, and others.
Overview
This 2-hour online course identifies and describes several methods of enhancing the performance of gas turbines (aka combustion turbines, or GTGs). By enhancing the performance, we mean increasing power output and /or improving the efficiency. The enhancements are described in terms of the hardware that can be included in the design or added as retrofits. Derivations of formulas are avoided, and while the bases of the enhancements are explained, this course does not delve very deeply into thermodynamics.
