The curriculum includes a data and fact-based overview of current electrical energy generation trends. It is led by an expert with over 40 years technical, strategic, and financial experience in the energy sector, with international energy experience with multi-national companies, Newmont Corporation, Rio Tinto, and ExxonMobil.
The course is designed to provide key and pertinent electrical energy generation information on the changes that are occurring both in the U.S. and globally.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe trends in solar and wind energy production costs and their impact on retail electricity pricing.
- Explain the relationships among coal, natural gas, renewable, nuclear, and oil technologies used for electricity production.
- Identify key energy trends affecting emissions and costs.
- Analyze examples of increasing renewable energy penetration and retail electricity prices in Germany and California.
- Describe current energy storage technologies.
