In this course you will learn about shell and tube, and plate type heat exchangers. You will learn about the design, components and categorizations of these two types of heat exchangers, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each.

The course is designed to take you from zero to hero concerning heat exchanger knowledge. Even if you already have some background knowledge of heat exchanges, this course will serve as an efficient refresher.

Multiple examples are given to show how heat exchangers work in the real world.

Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Types of commonly used heat exchangers.
  • The pros and cons of different heat exchanger types.
  • Differentiate between single-pass and multi-pass heat exchanger configurations.
  • Differentiate between regenerative and non-regenerative heat exchanger systems.
  • Differentiate between cross, parallel, and counter-flow heat exchanger designs.
  • Understand the nomenclature used for both shell and tube, and plate-type heat exchangers.

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 15 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
