Soil Mechanics Series - Description and Classification
In Soil Mechanics Series - Description and Classification, you'll learn ...
- Basic terminologies in soil description
- Basic and commonly used standards in soil classification
- The major engineering characteristics of the main soil groups
Overview
Soil consists of three phases of solid, liquid and gas. Because of the three-phase composition, soils exhibit different appearances and forms. A required task in geotechnical engineering is to describe and classify the soils for ensuing engineering evaluations in design and construction.
This course, as a part of soil mechanics series, covers basics and standards in soil description and classification. This course is applicable to geotechnical, civil, mining, structural, and environmental engineers, as well as design and construction personnel involved with the planning, design, and construction of building structures that utilize soils.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Basic terminologies in soil description
- Basic and commonly used standards in soil classification
- The major engineering characteristics of the main soil groups
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 24 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
