Medium Voltage Transformers – Volume II
In Medium Voltage Transformers – Volume II , you'll learn ...
- Practical applications of medium voltage transformers
- Transformer loading issues and energy losses, as well as transformer components
- Wiring connections used to produce different voltage configurations
- How fault current generation and ferroresonance impacts the operation of transformers
Overview
This course describes medium voltage transformers. There are over 50 million medium voltage transformers in operation in the United States. These transformers convert utility primary voltages (5 kV to 35 kV) to end use voltages for residential, commercial, and industrial uses.
This is volume two of two volumes. Volume II discusses practical applications of medium voltage transformers such as loading issues and energy losses, transformer components, and wiring connections used to produce different voltage configurations. Other factors such as how fault current generation and ferroresonance impacts the operation of transformers are covered in this volume.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The factors related to transformer loading,
- How to calculate the economic impact of transformer losses,
- The various ways to bank transformers,
- The benefits of wye-delta, delta-delta, and other banking options, and
- How to calculate fault current generated by transformers.
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 20 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
