Relaying and System Protection for Electric Utilities - Volume V: Generator and Motor Protection
In Relaying and System Protection for Electric Utilities - Volume V: Generator and Motor Protection, you'll learn ...
- The failure modes for central station generators and large motors
- Protection schemes for synchronous generators
- Protection concepts of large devices such as synchronous motors, induction motors, synchronous condensers, and the motors of frequency converters
Overview
This course is the final volume in a set of five courses on the design of relaying and system protection programs for electric utilities.
This course describes the failure modes for central station generators and large motors and explains how relaying, and protection schemes are employed to protect rotating machines.
This series is divided into five separate courses. Each course essentially stands on its own, and the courses do not necessarily need to be taken in the order listed. However, for a thorough understanding, it makes sense to take the courses as presented.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The issues that impact generator operation
- How generators are protected from winding faults
- How generators are protected from ground faults
- How generators are protected from loss of excitation
- Protection schemes for large motors
- Protection strategies for large motors
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 20 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
