Overview
Often, in areas remote from centralized wastewater collection and treatment systems, septic tank systems are used for applications involving residential cluster systems, restaurants, nursing homes, and other commercial or institutional facilities. There is the potential to overlook important design considerations, which can differ substantially from the typical residential septic system.
This course focuses on the traditional septic tank system applied to commercial waste and multiple sources, using subsurface infiltration for wastewater disposal. It discusses the basis of septic system design and shows the importance of various factors associated with large flow or commercial applications. It also provides an excellent review of some of the most important considerations for septic tanks, including soil absorption system design and the benefits of using septic tank effluent filters.
