Preparing Construction Plans with Clarity for a Streamlined Approval Process and Constructability (Video On Demand)
Credit: 2 PDH
Subject Matter Expert: Thomas J. Green, P.E., CFM
In Preparing Construction Plans with Clarity for a Streamlined Approval Process and Constructability , you'll learn ...
- How to gather information during the pre-design stage to ensure an efficient design process
- How to prepare a complete set of engineering drawings
- How to streamline the submittal and municipal review process
- How to minimize problems that arise during the construction stage due to missing information
Overview
The submittal and municipal review process for construction projects can be time consuming and costly, especially if you underestimate the level of attention and amount of work required during the pre-design and planning stages. This webinar helps engineers create well prepared and complete design plans that will streamline the municipal review and subsequent construction processes. The webinar focuses on the various stages of the engineering design process; it does not address specific issues of site design.
We begin this interactive webinar with a review of the necessary procedures in the pre-design stage, where gathering complete information is essential to the overall design, review, and construction process. Next we will discuss ways to construct a complete set of engineering design drawings. You will learn how to create an accurate title sheet and specifications and details sheet, as well as how to note existing conditions, dimension the site layout, indicate grading requirements, document a utility layout and stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP), and create plan and profile sheets. Providing clear design requirements to all downstream parties can prevent costly misunderstandings and problems at later stages of the development process. Finally, we will discuss the submittal for municipal review and look at how you can ensure a smooth review process and provide more value to the end customer.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Obtaining and gathering information during the pre-design stage
- Preparing a complete set of engineering drawings
- Streamlining the submittal and municipal review process
- Minimizing problems during the construction stage
Video on Demand
This course is a recorded version of a live lecture and will be streamed directly to your computer's media player. Our format is generally compatible with media players included with all computers and mobile devices. After watching the video presentation, you will return to your account to take the online quiz. While this is a recording of a live presentation, please note that this recording will not qualify as a "live" or "interactive" continuing education activity in those jurisdictions where it is required.
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 10 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
