This 3-hour course covers the fundamental components in digital logic systems including a detailed explanation of AND, NAND, OR, and NOR gates as well as their associated Truth Tables. The course explains how fundamental gates can be combined to form logic circuits and how to build a circuit using Boolean algebra.

This course is the second in a series of three courses on digital logic systems and begins with a discussion on the concepts of logic and how positive and negative logic is applied. From this discussion, we move into a detailed explanation of the fundamental logic gates. These gates, AND, NAND, OR, NOR, form the bases for virtually all digital logic circuits. The course also covers the theorems and concepts of Boolean algebra and how it can be applied to build a digital circuit.

Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Identify general logic conditions, logic states, logic levels
  • The concepts of positive and negative logic
  • The application of an AND, NAND, OR, and NOR gates
  • Interpret the Truth Tables for the aforementioned gates
  • Determine the output expressions of logic gates in combination
  • Recognize the laws, theorems, of Boolean expressions

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 25 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
