Credit: 1 PDH
Subject Matter Expert: Mark E. Hasenmyer, P.E.
In Freeze Protection of Fire Sprinkler Systems (Video on Demand), you'll learn ...
- Freeze protection requirements from NFPA-13
- Types of freeze protection measures
- Common mistakes in installation of freeze protection measures
Overview
This course will show NFPA-13 requirements for freeze protection of fire sprinkler systems as well as common mistakes made by fire sprinkler and insulation contractors that can lead to frozen sprinkler piping.
This information will be useful for fire protection engineers, mechanical engineers and plumbing engineers to gain knowledge of the requirements and procedures outlined in the National Fire Protection Association, Standard No. 13, Installation of Sprinkler Systems.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Acceptable means of freeze protection per NFPA-13
- Where insulation needs to be installed to provide freeze protection for fire sprinkler piping
- How to analyze attic heating for freeze protection of sprinkler piping
- Who is typically charged with installing the insulation used for freeze protection
- How a dry pipe sprinkler system can be a source of freezing pipes
- How pipe tenting is used to protect fire sprinkler piping
Video on Demand
This course is a recorded version of a live lecture and will be streamed directly to your computer's media player. Our format is generally compatible with media players included with all computers and mobile devices. After watching the video presentation, you will return to your account to take the online quiz.
