Uninterruptible Power Supplies - Advantages and Disadvantages of Various Configurations
In Uninterruptible Power Supplies - Advantages and Disadvantages of Various Configurations , you'll learn ...
- Why install a UPS?
- Types of loads that require a UPS
- How system reliability is defined
- The types of UPS systems that are commercially available and their relative merits
Overview
Various factors should be considered when making a decision as to whether or not a UPS system must be installed. The types of electrical loads must be considered, as well as the appropriate amount of back-up time that is required for a safe and effective operational shutdown.
This course will examine the types of loads that should be placed on a UPS systems, as well as the types of UPS systems that are commercially available. The pros and cons of each type of UPS system will be discussed. Finally, we will cover the main types of batteries used with UPS systems. Battery life, hydrogen off-gassing, suitable operating environment and cost are all considerations when selecting batteries for back-up power.
