Distribution Line Design - Volume 3: Structural Guying
In Distribution Line Design – Volume 3: Structural Guying, you'll learn ...
- An overview of guying and the components used in guying
- How to calculate pole loads
- Expected loads that need to be controlled through guying
- Methods for determining the proper pole class
Overview
This 3-hour course is the third volume of a three volume series about the mechanical design of electric distribution power systems. This volume addresses guying and pole loads and provides worked examples of guy loads.
The course is divided into five chapters. It begins with an overview of guying and the components used in guying. Pole loading is discussed as well as the expected loads that need to be controlled through proper guying. A detailed guying example is provided and the method for determining the proper pole class is explained.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The factors related to guying poles
- How soil density is classified
- How to calculate pole loads
- NESC overload factors
- NESC requirements for guying
- How to determine permitted loads on guy assemblies
- How to determine the pole class required
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 20 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
