This 4-hour course is the third in a series of courses on the design of medium voltage electrical transmission lines. This volume addresses the hardware and material used in the design of transmission lines. The strengths and operating characteristics are reviewed as well as an explanation of how to apply the material in given situations.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the types of insulators used in transmission line construction.
- Describe the electrical characteristics of insulators.
- Explain how transmission lines are designed for lightning protection.
- Describe the mechanical characteristics of insulators.
- Identify the types of conductors used in transmission line construction.

- Identify the characteristics of various mechanical hardware.
