Transmission Line Design (Volume III) - Hardware
In Transmission Line Design (Volume III) - Hardware, you'll learn ...
- Hardware and material used in the design of transmission lines
- The main types of insulators used on transmission lines
- Types of conductors and the factors to consider when dealing with conductors
- Selection of various conductor-related and structure-related hardware
Overview
This 4-hour course is the third in a series of courses on the design of medium voltage electrical transmission lines. This volume addresses the hardware and material used in the design of transmission lines. The strengths and operating characteristics are reviewed as well as an explanation of how to apply the material in given situations.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Types of insulators used in transmission line construction
- The electrical characteristics of insulators
- How lines are designed for lightning protection
- The mechanical characteristics of insulators
- The types of conductors used in transmission line construction
- The concept of “ruling spans”
- How to calculate sags and tensions in conductors
- The impact of Aeolian vibration
- The characteristics of various mechanical hardware
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 25 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
