Transmission Line Design (Volume II) - Clearances
In Transmission Line Design (Volume II) - Clearances, you'll learn ...
- Transmission line ground clearance requirements
- Right-of-way width and horizontal clearances from line conductors to objects
- Design limits related to conductor separation
- Clearances to supporting structures
Overview
This 4-hour course is the second in a series of courses on the design of medium voltage electrical transmission lines. This volume addresses clearances for transmission lines and includes not only clearances to ground but horizontal and vertical clearances to other conductors and structures. The application of the NESC is covered as well as adjustment factors for special cases.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Ground clearance requirements
- The factors affecting vertical clearances for conductors
- Vertical clearances of crossing conductors
- How to apply horizontal clearance requirements
- Clearance requirements of conductors on different supports
- The relationship between maximum span and galloping
- The clearances between horizontal to vertical construction
- The impact of insulator swing on clearances
- How to calculate insulator swing
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 25 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
