Introduction to Asphalt Concrete Pavement Recycling
In Introduction to Asphalt Concrete Pavement Recycling, you'll learn ...
- How to prepare plans and specifications to ensure the quality of recycled bituminous concrete
- Mix design, plant production, and laydown of recycled pavement mixtures
- When surface recycling of pavement should be considered
- When the use of recycled cold mix and hot mix should be considered
Overview
This course contains guidance for preparing plans and specifications and for ensuring the quality of recycled bituminous concrete. In addition, the course provides useful information to design engineers, laboratory personnel, and inspectors concerning the mix design, plant production, and laydown of recycled pavement mixtures.
Recycling pavement materials has proved to be a feasible process to rehabilitate worn-out pavements. Since recycled pavements will not always be cost-effective, recycling should be carefully considered as an option when repairing or rehabilitating existing pavements.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- The technology and equipment employed in pavement recycling
- Surface recycling
- Cold-mix recycling
- Hot-mix recycling
- Advantages and disadvantages of asphalt concrete and portland cement concrete pavement recycling
- The application of rejuvenators
- Heater planing scarifying
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 15 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
