VAV System Design
In VAV System Design , you'll learn ...
- Early design issues that VAV system designers should pay particular attention to
- VAV box selection and controls
- Duct design best practices
- Factors to consider when selecting common fan types for large VAV applications
- The benefits of using demand-based static pressure setpoint reset
Overview
Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems are a popular type of HVAC system in commercial buildings for both energy savings and comfort; however, there are multiple considerations that must be taken into account during design in order to realize these design objectives and avoid pitfalls.
In this course the student will learn some of the basic considerations that should be taken into account when considering using a VAV system in a building.

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Early design issues and recommendations
- Zone issues and recommendations
- VAV box selection and controls
- Duct design considerations
- Supply air temperature control
- Fan selection considerations
- Supply air pressure reset
- Coil and filter selection considerations
- Outside, return and exhaust air control
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 15 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
