This 3-hour course is the sixth in a series of courses on the design of electrical substations. The courses do not necessarily have to be taken in order and, for the most part, are stand-alone courses.

This course covers voltage regulators and capacitors as they are used in substations.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain how voltage regulators are used in substations.
  • Distinguish among the different types of voltage regulators.
  • Identify the different types of controls used with voltage regulators.
  • Describe how shunt capacitors are used in substations.
  • Explain the impact of resonant conditions.
  • Identify the different capacitor bank configurations used in substations.

Certificate of Completion

You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 20 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
