Substations - Volume V: Circuit Interrupting Devices
In Substations - Volume V: Circuit Interrupting Devices, you'll learn ...
- How circuit breakers are classified
- The relationship of rated short-circuit current to the other required capabilities of a circuit breaker
- Considerations when selecting metal-clad switchgear
- How automatic circuit reclosers are capable of distinguishing between temporary and permanent faults
- The two basic types of control schemes used for reclosers
Overview
This 4-hour course is the fifth in a series of courses on the design of electrical substations. The courses do not necessarily have to be taken in order and, for the most part, are stand-alone courses.
This course covers circuit interrupting devices such as circuit breakers, circuit switchers, metal clad switchgear, and reclosers.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Basic design issues with power circuit breakers
- Different types of circuit breakers
- How power circuit breakers are rated
- Different types of circuit breaker operating mechanisms
- When metal-clad switchgear might be used
- Different types of metal-clad switchgear
- How reclosers are used in substations
- How reclosers are classified
- Types of controls used on electronic reclosers
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 25 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
