Substations - Volume IV: Power Transformers
In Substations - Volume IV: Power Transformers, you'll learn ...
- How load cycle, load factor, and ambient temperature affect transformer selection
- How transformer impedance affects transformer voltage regulation, efficiency, and magnitude of through short-circuit currents
- The requirements for transformers of various sizes with respect to short-circuit withstand capabilities
- Guidelines for specification of dielectric tests on power transformers rated 345 kV and below
- Mobile substation characteristics and applications
Overview
This 3-hour course is the fourth in a series of courses on the design of electrical substations. The courses do not necessarily have to be taken in order and, for the most part, are stand-alone courses.
This course covers the design and operation of power transformers used in electrical substations and includes information on ratings, types, auxiliary equipment, test and mobile transformers.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Obtained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Types of power transformers
- Transformer ratings
- The issues related to paralleling power transformers
- Types of cooling methods employed for power transformers
- Various types of oil preservation systems
- Different types of electrical tests for power transformers
- Special issues related to mobile transformers
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 20 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
