Energy Efficiency - HID Lighting
In Energy Efficiency - HID Lighting, you'll learn ...
- Fundamentals of lighting theory
- Operation and construction of High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps
- HID lighting types, applications and standards
- How HID lighting efficacy and service life compares to other types of lighting products
Overview
This 4-hour course provides an overview of the lighting market in the United States and how High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting is used in the energy markets. The course reviews the fundamentals of lighting, how HID lamps work as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of HID lighting. The course also discusses the differences among HID lighting types and how they are typically used.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify where lighting energy is consumed.
- Describe where HID lamps are most often used.
- Explain different theories of light propagation.
- Describe how HID lamps operate.
- Distinguish among the different types of ballasts used in HID lighting.
- Identify the components used in HID lighting.
- Describe the applications best suited for HPS lamps.
- Explain the meaning of lamp cycling.
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 30 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
