Energy Efficiency: LED Lighting
In Energy Efficiency: LED Lighting, you'll learn ...
- How light is produced, projected and measured
- Two aspects of energy efficiency to consider when specifying LED lights
- Key aspects of lighting quality associated with LEDs
- LED types, applications and standards
Overview
This 4-hour course provides an overview of the lighting market in the United States and how LED lighting can help reduce energy consumption now and in the future.
The course reviews the fundamentals of lighting, how LEDs work, and the advantages and disadvantages of different types of LED lighting. Finally, the course discusses LED lighting standards, as well as the most appropriate uses for LED lights in residential, commercial, industrial, and outdoor lighting applications.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Compare lighting energy consumption with that of other energy users.
- Identify the different lighting controls in use today.
- Explain the physics of LED lighting and theories of light propagation.
- Describe where LED lighting currently fits in residential, commercial, industrial, and outdoor lighting markets.
- Explain how the reflection and transmission of light affect the design of lighting materials and predicted lighting levels in a space.
- Describe the operating principles, advantages, and challenges associated with LED lighting.
- Explain why LEDs are efficient for colored-light applications, such as traffic lights and exit signs.
- Identify methods for achieving white light with LEDs.
- Compare the relative merits of LEDs and organic LEDs.
- Describe LED lighting standards, types, and applications.
Certificate of Completion
You will be able to immediately print a certificate of completion after passing a multiple-choice quiz consisting of 25 questions. PDH credits are not awarded until the course is completed and quiz is passed.
