The U.S. Power Grid - Vulnerability to Solar Storms
In The U.S. Power Grid - Vulnerability to Solar Storms, you'll learn ...
- Understand how geomagnetic storms may affect the electric utility grid
- Understand how geomagnetic storms begin
- Explain the impact of geomagnetic induced currents
- Explain coronal mass ejections
Overview
This 4-hour course explains how geo-magnetic disturbances may impact the electric power industry. The course reviews the historical solar storms and how they either impacted or could have impacted the electric power industry. The course explains how GMD’s are monitored, how they may affect the industry, and steps utilities may take to mitigate the impact of GMD’s.
