Overview

 

This course caters, mainly, to Engineers, Technicians and Facilities Managers who are not intimately familiar with Electrical Engineering Principles and Practices. 

Through this course, attendees are expected to learn basic principles of electricity in a simple, easy to understand format. This course will enable attendees to accomplish straightforward and common calculations associated with voltage, current, power and power factor. 

Charts and tables, as alternate means for current, voltage and power estimation, will be presented. Practical examples of electrical applications, in industrial settings, will be covered. Electrical, equipment, components, devices and test instrumentation will be discussed. Important concepts in electrical safety will be introduced.

 


 

Learning Objectives

 

In this 8 hour web-based seminar, you'll learn....

  • Principles of Electricity, AC and DC

  • Electrical Code and Safety 

  • Electrical Equipment and Instrumentation in Industrial Applications. This would include motors, transformers, switchgear, protection devices, power/energy monitoring systems

  • Electrical Control Systems; i.e. PLC’s, Relay Ladder Logic, Drives and Sensors, examples of automation systems, including AGV’s and robots

  • Understanding Electrical Drawings and Documentation

  • Understanding Electrical Power Bills and Ways to Reduce the Energy Cost

System Requirements

 

To attend this web seminar, you'll need a computer with a high speed internet connection (DSL or cable modem) and a phone line.  For your comfort, it is recommended that you use a speaker phone to connect to the web seminar.

 

Registration Deadline

 

Online registration ends 1 hour prior to the seminar, however phone registration can be accepted up to 10 minutes before the webinar begins. Please call 877 500-7145 (toll free) for last-minute registration.   Seminars fill up fast.  Register early to reserve your spot!

Accessing the Web Seminar

 

Twenty-four hours prior to the webinar, you will be emailed a web address for the webinar.  On the day of the seminar, simply go to the website provided in the e-mail (you should be able to just click on the link in the e-mail).  You will be asked to enter your name and e-mail address.  And you will need to enter the password that was also sent to you in the e-mail.  Once you have logged in, a screen will pop up with the toll-free number to call. Please try to log in at least 5 minutes prior to the webinar as we will start promptly.

Printing Your Certificate

 

After completion of the web seminar, you will need to fill out a short online questionnaire to access your certificate of completion.  The questionnaire can be accessed immediately after the seminar through your login account.  In the questionnaire, you will assess how well the seminar achieved the stated learning objectives.

Cancellation Policy

 

You may cancel your enrollment in this web seminar up to 48 hours prior to the seminar with a full refund, minus a $10 registration service fee.  Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the seminar, but at least 4 hours prior to the seminar will not be refunded, but will be credited towards future seminars.  Cancellations made less than 4 hours prior to the seminar are not refundable.

PDH Credits

 

Web seminars earn PDH credits for engineers in all states, unless specifically stated otherwise in the literature for a specific seminar.  PDHengineer.com is an approved provider of continuing education for engineers.  For more details, check out your state requirements.
