Protecting Building Environments from Airborne
Chemical, Biological or Radiological (CBR) Attacks
Steven G. Liescheidt, P.E., CSI-CCS, CCPR.
Overview
In today’s complex political world, the buildings
in which we live, work and enjoy entertainment are becoming targets of evil
minded individuals who seek to harm other humans. Part of the job of being a
professional in the building industry now, more than ever, involves taking into
consideration these possibilities. There are measures that can be taken to help
minimize the potential that the buildings are easy targets for CBR (Chemical,
Biological and Radiological) attacks.
In this course the student will learn some of the
considerations for protecting the building environments against CBR attacks.
The considerations are related to the HVAC systems which are designed to
distribute ventilation to the occupants of the building environment enclosure.
The student is expected to read and review the
material contained in the Guidance For Protecting Building Environments from
Airborne Chemical, Biological or Radiological Attacks. DHHS (NIOSH)
Publication No. 2002-139
The
student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions at
the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.
Specific Knowledge or Skill Attained
This course teaches the following specific knowledge and
skills:
