Steel
Tension Member Design by ASD / LRFD Steel Construction Manual
Robert
Duane Nickols, PE
Overview
This course covers the design of steel tension members based on the AISC Steel Construction Manual, 13th edition. No prior knowledge of previous codes is necessary. This course should be of particular interest to Civil and Structural Engineers. This course will show how to design tension members
based on some of the limit states in sections D and J of the specification. In section D, we look at three limit states. In section J we also look at three limit states. These make up the limit states that are used to design most tension members. Table 5-1 and Table 5-2 are my version adapted from the Steel Construction Manual.
The student must take a
multiple-choice quiz consisting of ten (10) questions at the end of this course
to earn PDH credits.
